Some of the content on this Web site is presented in the form of printable PDF (Portable Document Format) files. These pages are best viewed with the free Adobe Reader (formerly called Adobe Acrobat Reader) software. Adobe Reader allows you to take full advantage of the many features of PDF documents.
If you're having trouble viewing PDF files, click on one of the following topics:
More information on the PDF format can be found on the Adobe Web site.
By default, Adobe Reader is included as a plug-in on most Windows browsers (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox); you should already be able to view PDFs in your browser, with all the tools and features of Adobe Reader. If for some reason you are having difficulty viewing PDFs on a Windows computer, follow the steps outlined below, under Downloading and Installing Adobe Reader, to upgrade to the most recent version.
Apple (Mac) computers do not necessarily come with Adobe Reader installed. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you will still be able to view the PDF files on this site:
In Apple Safari (the default Web browser on Apple computers), the PDFs will display in your browser window. You have the following additional options:
If you are not using Safari, your browser (Mozilla Firefox, for example) will alert you to the fact that you have chosen to open a PDF file, and will ask if you want to open the PDF (with Preview), or save it to your computer.
You can also download and install Adobe Reader (see below) to view PDFs with all the features (toolbars, bookmarks, etc.). Once you have installed Adobe reader, PDF files will open within your Safari browser window, with all the tools and features of Adobe Reader.
NOTE: If you are using the Mozilla Firefox browser on an Apple Computer, you will not be able to view PDF files in a Firefox window, even if you have Adobe Reader Installed. When prompted, choose "Save to Disk". When the file has finished downloading, open it with Adobe Reader.
If you don't have Adobe Reader, or would like to upgrade to the most recent version , you can download and install it for free:
For more information about downloading and installing software for Apple computers, please view the following article on the Apple Web site:
You can set Adobe Reader to open previously-viewed PDF documents to the last page you were viewing before you closed each document:
If you prefer PDF documents to always open to the first page, select "Digital Editions Only" instead of "All Files" in Step 4, above. (A "Digital Edition" is a different Adobe file format, so the PDFs on the New Leader site will not be affected if this is selected.)
